Emily Smith, Counselling Therapist Intern

My name is Emily Smith, and I am currently in the 2nd year of my Masters program through Yorkville University, receiving a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP). I am qualified to practice onsite at ACTion Counselling in Truro, NS, under the clinical supervision of my practicum supervisor, Jason Tucker. I will be working under supervision in my practicum between May 2024 until December 2024.

I have interest in working with a diverse group of adults across the lifespan. The main areas of concern I would enjoy working with, but is not limited to are issues with anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, as well as loss, and self-awareness.

I intend to work from a client-centered approach, as well as an acceptance commitment approach, but also have knowledge about techniques and interventions in cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and solution focused therapy. I look forward to offering a collaborative approach to working with clients, that is non-judgmental but helps the client grow in their self-awareness.

I am thrilled to begin this journey to help support and help others while on their healing journey, as well as practice my skills, and share my knowledge with clients while under supervision.
